The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Vice Chairperson A Kelly Paschal-Hunter. 1) CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Attendee Name Status Julia Tomtania, Chairperson Absent A Kelly Paschal-Hunter, Vice Chairperson Present Shweta Agrawal, Commissioner Present Gina Gabriell, Commissioner Present Timea Iharosi, Commissioner Present Margaret Liang, Commissioner Present Darren Phillips, Alternate Commissioner Present 2) PRESENTATIONS – None. 3) PUBLIC COMMENT – None. 4) CONSENT CALENDAR 4.1) Approved September 14, 2023, Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission Regular Meeting Minutes. 4.2) Received Tri-Annual Parks and Community Services Department Report for May through August 2023. On a motion by Commissioner Liang, seconded by Commissioner Iharosi, and by unanimous vote, the Commission adopted the Consent Calendar. RESULT: ADOPTED [UNANIMOUS] MOVED BY: Margaret Liang, Commissioner SECOND: Timea Iharosi, Commissioner AYES: Paschal-Hunter, Agrawal, Gabriell, Iharosi, Liang, Phillips ABSENT: Tomtania Attachment 1 Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission REGULAR MEETING November 9, 2023 5) UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None. 6) NEW BUSINESS 6.1) Camp Parks Public Art Project – Art Selection The Commission received a presentation regarding two Public Art design proposals for artwork to be located adjacent to the relocated and rehabilitated Historic Camp Parks Sign and Guard Shack. On a motion by Commissioner Gabriell, seconded by Commissioner Iharosi, and by unanimous vote, the Commission recommended James Dinh’s Public Art Design proposal to City Council. 6.2) Update on Activities by the City of Dublin Historian The Commission received a presentation by Steve Minnear, City Historian for the City of Dublin. He gave an update on projects and activities completed since he was appointed in January 2021. This included public speaking events, history tours, and assisting with the management of historical records. Additionally, Steve gave insight into upcoming projects and activities. 6.3) Update on Precinct Black Box Theater and Gallery 180 The Commission received a presentation from Tyler Phillips, Recreation Supervisor, on the planned operations of the Precinct Black Box Theater and Gallery 180. He provided information on the plans for use inside the theater and the types of Exhibits inside the Gallery. The Commission also gave input and provided suggestions. 7) STAFF AND COMMISSIONER REPORTS The Staff and Commissioners provided brief information-only reports.
