At this time, the public is permitted to address the Youth Advisory Committee on non-
agendized items. Please step to the podium and clearly state your name for the record.
COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In accordance with State
Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not appearing on the posted
agenda. The Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked, or may
request Staff to report back at a future meeting concerning the matter. Any member of
the public may contact the Recording Secretary's Office related to the proper procedure
to place an item on a future Youth Advisory Committee agenda. The exceptions under
which the Committee MAY discuss and/or take action on items not appearing on the
agenda are contained in Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(1)(2)(3).
4. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically non -controversial in nature and are considered for
approval by the Youth Advisory Committee with one single action. Members of the
audience, Staff or the Youth Advisory Committee who would like an item removed from
the Consent Calendar for purposes of public input may request the Chair to remove the
item.

A Regular Meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at

Mary Ayers, Librarian, reported on the library's February calendar of events, highlighting teen
author Keely Parrack's book release party on February 6th, the take and make craft of the month is
a felt bear cell phone case, the teen movie: The Color Purple, and that Dublin High School program
proposals open for summer on February 20, 2024.

On a motion by Committee Member KarurParekh, seconded by Committee Member Haggmark, and
by unanimous vote, the Committee adopted the Consent Calendar.

6.1) Recruitment Process for the 2024-25 Youth Advisory Committee and Student
Representative for the Parks& Community Services Commission
The Committee received a presentation outlining the 2024-25 Youth Advisory Committee
recruitment process, and Student Representative for the Parks and Community Services
Commission.
6.2) Discussion on Participation in the Tri-Valley Teen .bb and Career Fair
The Committee received a presentation on the 2024 Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair. Braden
Ou, Yma Santos, Justin Dinnall, Sam Haggmark, Adi Jain, Nithila Sadheesh, Hamza Ahmad, and Esha
Shenoy volunteered to work at the Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair.
6.3) Discussion on Volunteer Assignments for Spring Events
The Committee received a presentation regarding volunteer assignments for spring events. Justin
Dinnall, Adi Jain, Neel KarurParekh, Nithila Sadheesh, Sanjana Gidwani, Rishika Singh, and Esha
Shenoy volunteered to work at the St. Patrick's Day Festival and the Spring Eggstravangza.

6.4) Discuss Adjustments to the Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting Schedule
On a motion by Committee Member KarurParekh, seconded by Committee Member Jain, and by
unanimous vote, the Committee approved moving the Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meetings
to the second Wednesday of the month beginning May 8, 2024.

7) STAFF AN D COMMITTEE REPORTS
Chairperson Braden Ou and Vice Chairperson Yma Santos spoke about their TV interview with
TV30 on what the Youth Advisory Committee does. Their interview will air on February 1, 2024,
for the first time.
Nicki Wanzenried, Recreation Coordinator, reminded the Committee that the Benefit Concert
performer application will be available on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 8:00 AM. Flyers were
shared, and the Committee was asked to assist with promoting.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Agenda Item 6.1
The Youth Advisory Committee will discuss the Annual Report Presentation for the Parks and
Community Services Commission and the City Council.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive the report.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
DESCRIPTION:
Each year the Youth Advisory Committee Members present an Annual Report highlighting the
Committee's accomplishments during their term. Accomplishments include awarding Youth Mini -
Grants, volunteering at City events, participating in roundtable events with neighboring agencies,
engaging in fundraising efforts for the Youth Fee Assistance Program, and planning, implementing,
and hosting events.
The Youth Advisory Committee 2023-24 term accomplishments include the following:
• Awarded six youth organizations in Dublin with a Youth Mini -Grant, totaling $2,500.
Recipients included Dublin High School (DHS) Green Earth Club, DHS National Alliance
on Mental Illness (NAMI), DHS Speech & Debate, Dublin Health Occupation Students of
America (HOSA), Gardeners of the Galaxy, and The Student Climate Corps.
• Planned, implemented, and hosted the third Youth Mental Health Forum at the Shannon
Community Center on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
• Volunteered at Splatter, Harvest Fair, St. Patrick's Day Festival, and the Holiday Tree

Lighting.
• Volunteered at the Teen Job Fair on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the San Ramon Senior
Center.
• Will host the Dublin Benefit Concert on May 2, 2024, at the Farmers Market at Emerald
Glen Park. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dublin Fee Assistance Program.
• Participated in the Spring Tri-Valley Youth Committees Roundtable on Saturday, March
23, 2024.
• Will volunteer at the Spring Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Heritage
Park.
Chair Braden Ou and Vice Chair Yma Santos will present the Annual Report at the April 15, 2024,
Parks and Community Services Commission Meeting and at the May 21, 2024, City Council
meeting.

The Youth Advisory Committee will receive an update from the 2024 Dublin Benefit Concert Ad
Hoc Committee.

DESCRIPTION:
Each year, the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) establishes a work plan for its term of service. At
the August 23, 2023 meeting, members discussed goals and objectives for the 2023-24 work plan.
Upon discussion and receipt of feedback, the YAC agreed to plan and host the 2024 Dublin Benefit
Concert.
The Dublin Benefit Concert will take place at the Dublin Farmers' Market on May 2, 2024.
Performances will include Dublin -based youth and senior organizations, clubs, and programs that
provide performing arts, multicultural awareness, or other youth/senior related activities. The
event benefits the Dublin Fee Assistance Program. All YAC members must be present at the event
to assist with logistics.
On November 15, 2023, the YAC appointed six members to the Benefit Concert Ad Hoc Committee.
The Ad Hoc Committee met on January 10, 2024, and March 13, 2024, to discuss objectives from
the work plan and will provide an update. Below is a list of work plan objectives. Some tasks have
already been completed.

o Objective 1- Established a timeline and work plan for the event and appointed six
members to the ad hoc committee at the November 15, 2023, Special Meeting.
o Objective 2 - Solicited youth and senior performers from the Dublin Unified School
District high and middle schools, Quarry Lane School, Valley Christian Schools, City
contract youth and senior instructors, Dublin cultural arts businesses, and other
venues where youth and senior artists perform starting on January 15, 2024. The
application for performers opened on January 26, 2024, and closed on March 12,
2024, at 11:59 pm.
o Objective 3 - The Ad Hoc Committee reviewed applications on March 13, 2024 and
selected performers on March 15, 2024.
o Objective 4 - Created an event flyer and City newsflash for Staff review and
advertised the event in the Spring Recreation Activity Guide on the City website. The
flyer and newsflash will be distributed by YAC members starting March 27, 2024.
o Objective 5 - Attend, emcee, and implement the 2024 Dublin Benefit Concert on May
2, 2024, at the Farmer's Market in Emerald Glen Park.

participated in the Spring Tri-Valley Youth Committees Roundtable event.

Roundtable event.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:

DESCRIPTION:
The Dublin Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) participates in the Tri-Valley Youth Committees
Roundtable event with Youth Advisory Committees from Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Danville
each year. The event rotates and is held in a different city each year. The goals of the event are to
collaborate and socialize with other youth committees, review upcoming events and programs,
and discuss successes and challenges.
The Spring Tri-Valley Youth Committees Roundtable was on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 1:00
p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Pleasanton Senior Center. Twelve members from the YAC attended the
event and will share additional event details.
