REGULAR MEETING
March 14, 2024
A Regular Meeting of the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission was held on
Thursday, March 14, 2024, in the Council Chamber at the Civic Center. The meeting
was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairperson Julia Tomtania.

Meeting Minutes.
4.2) Received the Tri-Annual Parks and Community Services Department Report for
September through December 2023.
On a motion by Vice Chairperson Paschal-Hunter, seconded by Commissioner Argawal,
and by unanimous vote, the Commission adopted the Consent Calendar.

5.1) Digital Projects at Heritage Park and Museums
The Commission received a presentation on the update of the digital projects underway
at Heritage Park, including an interactive cemetery database and digital walking tour.
6) NEW BUSINESS
6.1) Election of Officers
Commissioners appointed new officers to the positions of Chairperson and Vice
Chairperson for 2024.
On a motion by Chairperson Tomtania, seconded by Commissioner Phillips, and by
unanimous vote, the Commission appointed Vice Chairperson Paschal-Hunter to
Chairperson.
RESULT: APPOINTED[UNANIMOUS]

SECOND: Darren Phillips, Commissioner
AYES: Tomtania, Paschal-Hunter, Agrawal, Gabriell, Iharosi, Liang,

On a motion by Chairperson Paschal-Hunter, seconded by Commissioner Gabriell, and
by unanimous vote, the Commission appointed Commissioner Phillips to Vice
Chairperson.

6.2) Review of the Five-Year Capital Improvement Program
The Commission received a presentation on the update of the Five-Year Capital
Improvement Program (2024-2029), which includes projects related to Public Art and
Heritage Park facility improvements.
7) STAFF AND COMMISSIONER REPORTS
Staff and Commissioners provided brief information-only reports.
8) ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Paschal-Hunter adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
