FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None. DESCRIPTION: The City has received a request from Coral Dev~lopment Corporation for a street name change for Calle de Casas. The Applicant is requesting the street name change in that "Calle De Casas" does not reflect the theme of the Coral Gate Development. The Applicant has chosen three possible street names, listed in order of preference: 1) Gate Way, or 2) Island Way, or 3) Court Lane. Section 5-28.11 of the City's Municipal Code establishes procedures and authorizes the City Council to change the name of any street within the City. In compliance with established procedures, the proposed street name change was referred for review and comment to: Alameda County, adjoining cities, U.S. Post Office, the Fire Department (DSRSD), the Police Department, and other City Departments. Upon review of the Applicant's request, the Planning, Engineering, Police and Fire Departments, and the U.S. Postal Service, concur with the Applicant's three street name choices. The City of San Ramon Staff indicated a concern that there may be confusion between the Applicant's proposed "Gate" Way and "Gait" Court in San Ramon in that the two street names are phonically the same. However, both the Dublin Police Department and DSRSD Fire Department found Gate Way to be an acceptable street name. DSRSD Fire Department indicated the similarity in names would not present a problem for emergency response in that the Dublin Street is Gate Way, while the San Ramon street is Gait Court. Although DSRSD Fire Department found the proposed street name change acceptable, they indicated the change will involve a great deal of time as Calle de Casas is currently indexed in the Department's emergency response dispatch, run cards, run books and maps. DSRSD Fire Department has indicated the Applicant will be charged a fee to cover the costs involved in changing the street name. ";" RESOLUTION NO. - 87 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN APPROVING PA 87-040 STREET NAME CHANGE FOR CALLE DE CASAS WITHIN THE CORAL GATE DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 4-83 of the Dublin City Council authorizes the City Council to change the name of a street and establishes procedures for street name changes; and WHEREAS, Coral Gate Development Property Owner Majid Rahebi requested the City to change the name of Calle de Casas to Gate Way; and WHEREAS, the addresses on Calle de Casas are not currently in use; and WHEREAS, the street name change request was referred to the appropriate public agencies for review and comment; and WHEREAS, the DSRSD Fire Department, the U.S. Postal Service, the City Planning Department, Engineering Department, and Police Department concur with the proposed street name change; and WHEREAS, the Dublin City Council considered both written and oral testimonies presented by Staff and the general public concerning the proposed street name change at the April 27, 1987, Council meeting; NOW, THEREFORE, THE DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL DOES HEREBY RESOLVE THAT 1. The street name change is in compliance with Sections 5-28.6 and 5-28.11 of the City's Municipal Code relating to the name and numbering of streets. 2. The street name change will not be detrimental to the public health, safety or general welfare. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE Dublin City Council hereby approves the street name change of Calle de Casas to Gate Way subject to the following condition: 1. The Applicant shall pay all fees as may be required by public agencies to cover the costs associated with the street name change incurred by the agencies. Although this change can be made, it would require this office a great deal of time to make that change. The present name, Calle DeCasas, is indexed in emergency response dispatch, run cards, run books, maps and can be found in the Thomas Bros. Maps, commonly used by private ambulance crews and venders supplying goods and services. I have suggested to Chief Phillips that we should charge a fee for the change requested.
