category of 20,001 - 50,000.
The Trail Trekker Program is a Senior Center program. Mr. Richard Guarienti, a Dublin resident,
conceived the idea for the program and has volunteered for the past two years to coordinate the program.
The Trail Trekkers meet on a weekly basis at the Senior Center and carpool to various regional parks and
trails throughout the greater Bay Area. Each hike is approximately three to four miles in length and
provides the participants with much more than just improved health. Other outcomes include:

enables seniors to actively explore regional parks and trails they could not visit on their own.
· Strengthening Safety and Security...Participating in the Trail Trekker Program provides
participants with significant knowledge of hiker safety.
·Promoting Health and Wellness. :. The program has increased the participants' frequency
of exercise as well as their strength, endurance, flexibility and balance.
· Fostering Human Development...The Trail Trekker Program provides important
companionship that motivates the participants to get oUt and walk on a regular basis and has
improved the mood and outlook of the participants.
· Increasing Cultural Unity...The Trail Trekker Program has helped participants gain an
understanding and knowledge of other cultures.
· Protecting Environmental Resources...The Trail Trekker Program has increased the
participants' interest in preserving natural resources.
