SUBJECT: Presentation by Public Works Staff Updating the City Council on
the Status of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System
(NPDES) Program

at the meeting as part of the monthly departmental information
program
RECOMMENDATION: t~ ~:~Receive and accept the presentation and provide any comments
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The-new NPDES permit requirements will add costs to the City for
City-sponsored Capital Improvement Program projects. Private
development projects will also realize an increase in total project
costs that will be passed on to the buyers of development real estate.
DESCRIPTION:
This presentation by Public Works is intended to update the City Council on the progress that Staff has
made in implementing the new NPDES permit. The presentation will highlight certain measures that have
already been incorporated into project planning for Capital Improvement Projects and into the City's
review of private development projects.
Staffrecommends that the City Council receive and accept the presentation and provide any comments.
