SUBJECT: Public Heating: Amendment to Dublin Municipal Code to Provide
for Increase in the Salary for Members of the City Council

the City Council after certification of the November 2004 election
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The Ordinance would increase the salary for members of the City
Council in an mount equal to 5% of the current $623.66 monthly
compensation for calendar years 2003 and 2004, for a total of
$687.58 monthly compensation. The Mayor receives an additional
$100 monthly.
DESCRIPTION: Councilmembers currently receive $623.66 per month as
compensation. The Dublin City Council last adjusted salaries for the Council in May of 2002. The
increase was effective after the November 2002 election.
The attached Ordinance, which was introduced at the February 3, 2004 City Council meeting, would
increase salaries for Calendar years 2003 and 2004, as follows: Current compensation $623.66
2003 increase $654.84
2004 increase $687.58
In accordance with Dublin Municipal Code Section 2.08.020 B and state law, the increase would not
become effective until new Councilmembers are sworn into office following certification of the
November 2004 election.
The Mayor's salary will include an additional $100 per month, pursuant to DMC Section 2.08.040.
Reco. rnmendation:
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public heating, deliberate, waive the reading and adopt

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OFTHE CITY OF DUBLIN
AMENDING DUBLIN MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2.08.020
AND PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE SALARY
FOR MEMBERS OF THE CiTY COUNCIL
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. PURPOSE
Ordinance No. 6-82 established salaries for members of the City Council, as mended by
Ordinances No. 22-85, 8-87, 4-88, 3-89, 1-90, 6-91, 23~99, and 7-02. The pm'pose of this Ordinance is to
modify salaries for members of the City Council in accordance with Government Code Section 36516.
The salary increase shall become effective when new Councilmembers are sworn into office following the
certification of the November, 2004 General Municipal election.
Section 2: AMENDMENT OF MUNICIPAL CODE
Section 2.08.020, Subsection A of the Dublin Municipal Code is hereby mended to read as
follows: Pursuant'to Section 36516 of the Government Code which provides that a City Council may
enact an ordinance providing that each member of the City Council shall receive a salary which shall be
determined by a schedule of population for cities, the members of the City Council shall receive a salary
of six hundred eighty seven dollars and fifty nine cents ($687.58) per month.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE AND POSTING OF ORD.INANCE
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after the date of its
passage. The City Clerk of the City of Dublin shall cause this Ordinance to be posted in at least three (3)
public places in the City of Dublin in accordance with Section 36933 of the Government Code of the
State of California.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Dub!in this 17th day
of February, 2004, by the following vote:
