This project is funded by Gas Tax monies (Fund 206), as well as
approximately $7,600 in General Fund (001) in the form of
reimbursements received from the Armstrong Garden Center to
slurry seal a portion of Amador Valley Boulevard west of San
Ramon Road and from Dublin San Ramon Services District
(DSRSD) to slurry seal a portion of Sierra Lane.
DESCRIPTION: On August 5, 2004, the City Council awarded Contract No. 03-14,
2003-2004 Annual Slurry Seal Program, to American Asphalt Repair and Resurfacing Company, Inc.
Slurry seal is a preventative maintenance technique used to prolOng the life of asphalt concrete surfacing.
Slurry seal consists of a sand/oil mixture which seals cracks and provides a new uniform wearing surface.
City streets are slurry sealed approximately every five to seven years, depending uPon the level of wear.

The following streets were slurry sealed as part of Contract No. 03-14:
Rolling Hills Drive Tory Way
Hillrose Drive Ebensburg Lane
Sunwood Drive Hemlock Street
Emerald Avenue Amarillo Road
Burton Street Mansfield Avenue
Brittany Drive Sierra Lane
Champagne Place Champagne Court
Rothschild Place Rothschild Court
Ann Arbor Way Betlen Drive (west end to Hansen Drive)
Eden Street Amador Valley Boulevard (West of San Ramon Road)
San Ramon Road (North City Limit to Silvergate Drive)
Failed pavement repairs, which are required prior to the placement of slurry seal, were performed (at a
cost of $17,743) as part of the 2002-2003 Annual Street Overlay contract as a cost savings measure.
Gas Tax monies funded this project, with additional funds coming from the General Fund as a
reimbursement from the Armstrong Garden Center and Dublin San Ramon Services District. As a result
of trenching in the street, the Armstrong Garden Center project was required to slurry seal Amador Valley
Boulevard west of San Ramon Road, and the DSRSD recycled water project was required to slurry seal
Sierra Lane. These projects opted to pay into the City's General Fund to reimburse the City for the work
being included in the Annual Slurry Seal Program as a cost savings measure.
Staff has reviewed the work as complete and recommends that the City Council accept improvements
under Contract No. 03-14, 2003-2004 Annual Slurry Seal Program, and authorize the release of retention
after 35 days if there are no subcontractor claims.
