DESCRIPTION: This project will install a traffic signal at the intersection of Amador
Valley Boulevard and Starward Drive, and upgrade the existing traffic signal at Amador Valley
Boulevard and Donohue Drive. The two traffic signals are designed to operate as a single traffic signal
since the intersections are very close to each other.
The traffic signal at Amador Valley Boulevard and Starward Drive will facilitate and enhance the safety
of turning movements to and from Starward Drive due to the heavy volume of approximately 18,000
vehicles per day on Amador Valley Boulevard at the intersection with Starward Drive. This project will
also aid access to the new Senior Center and Senior housing development. The construction of this
improvement will be coordinated with the opening of the Senior Center and the adjacent Senior housing
project.
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the solicitation of bids for Contract No. 04-04, Traffic
Signal at Amador Valley Boulevard and Starward Drive.
