'r" I) I FINANCIAL STATEMENT: provide direction Sufficient funds are available in the Street Landscape Operating Budget for the options presented. DESCRIPTION: Earlier this year, the City Council requested options for holiday wreaths to adorn the recently installed green light poles on Village Parkway. The wreath is intended to be center-mounted on the light pole, in the area between the arms holding the lower light fixtures and the fixtures at the top of the pole. Due to the close spacing, it is proposed to install the wreaths on every other pole, resulting in a total of 18 wreaths. PG&E requires a separate metered circuit for lighted decorations, which is not feasible given the existing light poles. Staff spoke with several vendors regarding the possibility of solar or battery powered lights and was informed that these are not currently available. However, this issue may be re-addressed in the future if and when advances in technology make this option viable. Staff is proposing a combination of a three-ply reflective pine wreath with a red bow to adorn the holiday wreaths requested by City Council (Attachment 1). The combination described falls within the budget provided and will beautify the City during the holiday season. Installation and removal of the holiday wreaths will be performed by the vendor (Sierra Display). COPY TO: Page 1 of2 ITEM NO. ~. 5 G:\AGENMISC\Agenda Statement Holiday Wreaths.doc Two types of garland are available: two-tone natural pine and three-ply reflective pine. The two-tone is the most basic option. The three-ply reflective version contains reflective elements in addition to the two- tone natural pine. Staff is requesting direction regarding the type of pine material. The decision on holiday wreaths is time- sensitive, as the vendor needs sufficient time to receive, construct, and send the order to the City before the arrival of the holiday season. Staff recommends that the City Council consider the options presented and provide direction regarding the choice of wreath and bow. Page 2 of2 Figure 1 , Wreath: Recommended wreath, 3 ,",,'I"ft"..-.
