The Annual Street Ovcrlay Program is funded by Gas Tax
($135,680) and Measure B Local Streets & Roads ($256,700).
DESCRIPTION: The Annual Street Overlay project consists of rcmoving and
rcplacing failed asphalt concrete (AC) pavement to a minimum depth of 3 inches on residential streets and
4 inchcs on cOllector/arterial streets, resurfacing the street with a minimum I-II2-inch overlay of AC, and
re~striping pavcment markings. Major cracks will also be sealed prior to resurfacing in order to prcvcnt
the cracks Irom reflecting through the new AC overlay.
Streets proposcd for overlay are determined by the City's Pavement Managcment Program which ranks
the street pavement conditions. It is anticipated that approximately 300,000 SF of street overlay will be
performcd as part of this Contract. Notices regarding the proposcd street work will bc scnt to aHected
residents and schools prior to thc beginning of work.
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 05-05, 2004-2005
Annual Street Overlay Program.
