A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL

lVHEREAS, decent, safe and affordable housing is one of the basic necessities of life .and is of vital
importance to the health and well being of all residents of the City of Dublin with homeownership being the
primary housing choice of most Americans; and
lVHEREAS, promoting affordable homeownership is a goal that crosses City boundaries; and
lVHEREAS, the Tri-Valley Affordable Housing Committee (which consists of Dublin, Livermore,
Pleasanton, San Ramon, Danville, Alameda County, and Contra Costa County) has created the Tri-Valley
Housing Opportunity Center as a vital tool to provide a central source of information, counseling and
education to homebuyers in the Tri- Valley by providing a central location to access homeownership
opportunities; and
lVHEREAS, the Tri- Valley Affordable Housing Committee kicked off operations with a Housing Expo on
June 4, 2005 to introduce the new organization and make available real estate and lending professionals
and education at one location to promote affordable housing; and
lVHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Dublin continues to support the efforts of the Tri-Valley
Housing Opportunity Center and the Tri- Valley Affordable Housing Committee; and
lVHEREAS, East Bay Housing Organizations have organized events during Affordable Housing Week to
acknowledge the needfor continued contributions and supportfor affordable housing.
N01V, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that I, Janet Lockhart, Mayor of Dublin, on
behalf of the City Council, hereby proclaim the week of June 4 - June 12, 2005 as "Affordable Housing
Week" in the City of Dublin, and calls upon all residents of the City of Dublin to learn about and honor the
contributions of affordable housing by participating in activities helcf through?u..t.J. t~e week to
commemorate this observance. r-
