A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF DUBLIN
CALIFORNIA
"NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK"
ll'HEREAS, public sqfety is a top priority in Dublin, California; and
lVHEREAS, sqfetyfromfire is important both to citizens and localfirefighters, who put their lives on the line
with every response tofire; and
lVHEREAS, residents of Dublin must take action to prevent fires and to protect themselves if fire strikes; and
lVHEREAS, awareness of simple safety practices can help lower our localfire death and i,yury rates; and
'WHEREAS, working smoke alarms on every level and a home fire escape plan and regular drills are essential
for every household in Dublin; and
WHEREAS, Dublin is joining the (National Fire Protection Association) NFP A in teaching lifesaving messages
in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week; and
tVHEREAS, the Fire Prevention Week 2005 theme, "Use Candles with Care: When You Go Out, Blow Out!" is an
important reminder for all citizens of Dublin.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Janet Lockhart, Mayor of Dublin, on behalf of the entire City
Council, hereby proclaim the week of October 9-15, 2005, as Fire Prevention Week. This week is
commemorated across North America and supported by the public safety efforts of fire departments, schools and
other safety advocates, in conjunction with the NFP A. nn.~"..L.a._
