If Group A is selected, determine whether one, two or all three designs should be purchased; 3. If Group A or B is selected, determine preferred text. . RECOMMENDATION: FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Sufficient funds are included in the Capital Improvement Program. DESCRIPTION: During the month of December holiday themed banners are hung from the street light poles throughout the City. Currently, there are three different holiday banners with a message of Peace, Joy or Noel. These banners have been in service for eight seasons and are showing signs of wear and tear. Consequently funds were included in Capital Improvement Program to replace the banners in Fiscal Year 2006-2007. The proposed project provides for the purchase of 96 banners, which is enough for the current banner program plus expansion in the future. One banner would be hung on each pole on alternating sides from pole to pole. CONCEPTUAL BANNER DESIGNS Three design options for holiday banners have been presented for City Council consideration (Attachment 1 ). Group A includes three traditional holiday banners with a similar color scheme and design. These banners can be imprinted with a custom message. The Council could choose to purchase one, two or all three of these designs. If the Council selects multiple designs, the banner designs would alternate from pole to pole as is done with the current holiday banners. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPY TO: Page 1 of2 ITEM NO. t).~ G:\COUNCIL\Agenda Statements\2006\ 10-17 Holiday Banners.doc Group B includes just one banner that has a winter theme as opposed to the traditional holiday theme. If this design were chosen, the banner would be hung on each pole on alternating sides from pole to pole. Group C includes two additional holiday banners in non-traditional colors. One banner says Happy Holidays and the other says Season's Greetings. With this option, the two designs would alternate from pole to pole as is done with the current holiday banners. These banners could not be imprinted with a custom message. CUSTOM TEXT If the Council selects banners that can be imprinted with a customized message, Staff will need direction on the preferred text. Staff suggests selecting a short inclusive phrase, such as Season's Greetings or Welcome to Dublin. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: 1. Select the preferred banner option, Group A, Group B or Group C; 2. If Group A is selected, determine whether one, two or all three designs should be purchased; 3. If Group A or B is selected, determine preferred text. I:a Q. ::> o a:: " c:c Q. ::> o a:: " I.... · _k.. ~.... H: ~'j , . r, f f J ! I. ,,; ,*-/1, ~/. tUbI U Q. ::> o a:: " <8.y..
