Receive the Dublin Pride Week Activities Report
Accept donations from Amador Valley Industries, ANG
Newspapers, Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club, Dublin
Chamber of Commerce, Dublin Lions Club, and citilinks and
direct Staff to prepare formal acknowledgement.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Sufficient funds are included in the Fiscal Year 2005-2006 Budget.
Other funds and in-kind donations will be provided by the following organizations: Amador Valley
Industries, ANG Newspapers, Dublin Lion's Club, Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club, Dublin Chamber
of Commerce and citilinks.
DESCRIPTION: Dublin Pride Week is an annual event, which seeks to promote a pOSitive image for
the City of Dublin. The primary objective for Dublin Pride Week is to seek ways to engage individuals
and/or groups in action based activities to help improve the community This year, Dublin Pride Week is
scheduled to start on Saturday, April 29t\ and will conclude on Saturday, May 6th, 2006 The 2006 Dublin
Pride Committee seeks to build on the success of previous Dublin Pride Week events by engaging diverse
community groups and individuals in the planning process. The Committee is made up of members
representing the following groups:
o City Council
o City Staff
o Dublin Unified School District
o Amador Valley Industries

Previously the Committee developed a branding logo that the community could associate with Dublin
Pride Week. The attached brochure (Attachment 1) and informational flyers utilize the branding logo
"Our City Our Home" with the 2006 slogan "Planet Dublin!" The slogan is an effort to recognize Dublin's
contribution to the global community and encourages people to work to improve our world through
environmental awareness and vo1unteerism as supported by the Dublin Pride Week activities.
The proposed 2006 Dublin Pride Activities are as follows:
Poster Contest:
The poster contest has been a Dublin Pride Week tradition for many years. The Dublin San Ramon
Women's Club has again volunteered to organize and manage the contest. The Poster Contest is open to
all Dublin students grades K-12. Winning artwork will be printed in the Tri-Valley Herald and displayed
at the Civic Center. Awards will be handed out at a Dublin City Council Meeting.
School Giveaways:
Dublin Pride promotional items will be given to each child that attends school in Dublin. This year's
items include recycled newsprint content pencils with logo (called "Prencils") for all school aged children,
as well as "window clings" and environmental educational coloring and activity books.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection & Compost Give-Away:
Dublin residents will be allowed to drop-off household hazardous waste free of charge and also pick up
free compost for their personal use. The event will be held at 5601 Amold Drive (comer of Arnold and
Central) on May 6th. An announcement with reservation information will be mailed to all residents.
"Volunteer Dav" Proiects
Volunteer Day (Attachment 2) is scheduled for Saturday April 29th and will conclude with a free BBQ at
Alamo Creek Park provided by the Dublin Lion's Club All Volunteers will also receive a free "2006
Dublin Pride Week" t-shirt. Volunteer Day projects include the following:
Senior Assistance Projects:
Volunteers will be helping elderly citizens take care of home maintenance projects such as painting,
cleaning, yard work, washing windows, etc.
School Improvement Projects:
Volunteers will choose from designated school beautification projects. Activities may include painting,
repairs, cleaning etc.
"Nature Dav" Activities
Nature Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 6th and will include a guided nature walk by East Bay
Regional Park District Ranger Katie Colbert along the Martin Canyon Creek Trail, followed by a Wildlife
Presentation by a representative from the Lindsay Wildlife Museum. A flyer is included as Attachment 3
with additional information about the walk and presentation.

PUBLIC OUTREACH.
The success of Dublin Pride Week is largely dependent on the outreach campaign developed to increase
the community's awareness and participation in the activities and volunteer opportunities. This year's
public outreach efforts include:
o Website - www.dublinprideweek.com. The web site was developed by citilinks, as a way
for participants to obtain up-to-date information on the various activities and volunteer
opportunities surrounding Dublin Pride Week. The website also includes a place for
volunteers to sign up to participate III any of the events. The website is highlighted on all
other outreach materials listed below
o Promotional Posters- Dublin Police and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce will distribute
posters designed and printed by ANG Newspapers to area businesses and schools.
o Newsletters- Announcements will appear in school newsletters, City's merchant
newsletter, and the Chamber of Commerce newsletter
o Press Releases will be sent to area newspapers.
o CTV Video "Spots" to appear on cable channel 30.
o Brochure- Dublin Pride Week brochure (Attachment 1) will be distributed to all
community and faith based orgamzatJons in the City and placed at strategic locations
throughout the City
o Flyers ~ The Volunteer Day and Nature Day flyers (Attachments 2 and 3) along with other
outreach materials will be sent to various targeted audiences within the community.
