Direct staff to establish a new Capital Improvement Program
project in FY 05-06 for the study
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
The $25,000 match is proposed to be funded with local Measure B
Bike/Pedestrian Program funds allocated to Dublin. There are
adequate funds for the required local match.

DESCRIPTION: The City of Dublin is working jointly with East Bay Regional Park
District and the City of Pleasanton in preparing an engineering study to determine the feasibility of
constructing a trail connection underneath the 1-580 freeway. This section of the trail will COMect the
segment of the Alamo Canal Trail north of the freeway (adjacent to the City Library) with the Pleasanton
trail south of the freeway to transform it to a continuous regional trail.
The engineering feasibility study is estimated to cost $100,000 and the East Bay Regional Park District
has applied for Measure B funds programmed for regional BicyclelPedestrian projects. The grant is being
administered by the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA) as part of the
Measure B one-half cent transportation sales tax program. ACTIAstaff is recommending $50,000 of
Measure B funds for the study, which would require a local match of $25,000 each from Pleasanton and
Dublin. P1easanton has tentatively agreed to fund its share of the match. If approved by the ACTIA
Board, the study will be performed in FY 2005-2006 and a capital improvement project will be initiated to
set aside the budget required for the match and minor associated Staff costs.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the local match of $25,000 for the Measure B Grant
Application for the Alamo Canal Trail Project under 1-580 and direct staff to establish a new Capital
Improvement Program project in FY 05-06 for the study.
