A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL
FOR THE MURRAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed a comprehensive
School Safety and Crossing Guard Study prepared by the City
Traffic Engineer; and
WHEREAS, the study recommends the establishment of a
School Safety Patrol, pursuant to State Law, at the Murray
Elementary School District; and
WHEREAS, Section 49300 of the State Education Code
provides the basis under which School Safety Patrols are to be
established and supervised; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need to respond
to city/school issues in a responsive and cooperative manner.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Dublin does hereby support the establishment of a
School Safety Patrol at Murray Elementary School District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City offers the
following resources to the Murray Elementary School District to
assist school' officials in the establishment of the program:
(1) The expertise and services of the City Traffic
Engineer to determine the most appropriate location.
(2) Helmets, belts, signs and rainwear to supply a
total of twelve patrol members.
(3) In conjunction with the School Safety Program a
member of the Dublin Police Services will be designated
as a liaison and will provide input to school officials
who maintain the responsibility for daily supervision.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of June,
1985.
