FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: The 24th Annual S1. Patrick's Day Celebration is scheduled for the weekend of March 17 and 18, 2007. Staff has begun preparing for the weekend events and is seeking input from the Council on the preferred alternative for the 2007 Festival Poster. For the past two years the poster has featured a large shamrock with a different photo in each leaf of the clover. Each year the photos have been changed. Prior to that, the City had commissioned an artist to prepare unique colorful artwork for each event poster. Staff has prepared four options for the Council to consider, including three new conceptual designs. If the Council prefers to use the same "shamrock photo" concept again, Attachment 5 depicts the photo options. Following is a summary of the options. · Poster Option A (Attachment 1) includes a friendly farmer leprechaun riding his green tractor filled with shamrocks. · Poster Option B (Attachment 2) depicts a leprechaun leaning against his green truck after the parade with the Dublin Civic Center in the background. Poster Option C (Attachment 3) features a young girl performing an Irish Dance with the City logo embedded within a shamrock. . Poster Option D (Attachment 4) would be to utilize the same conceptual layout from 2006 (the Attachment has not been updated with 2007 information), and inserting four new photographs (Attachment 5). The Parks and Community Services Commission reviewed the artwork at its regular meeting in November. On a three to one vote, the Commission recommended Poster Option D as the first option, and Poster Option C as the second choice. The Commissioners all agreed that they liked the bigger print and simplicity of Option C and hoped that it could be incorporated into Option D if selected by the Council. The dissenting Commissioner preferred Option C because it was a new poster design, which would better highlight the change ofthe Festival location. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: 1. Receive the report. 2. Select the preferred artwork or provide Staffwith alternate direction.
