Only one proposal was received for the work. The total proposal for
painting 130 street lights v,as $14,950 ($115 per pole), which is
within funds available in the Signal and Lighting Operating Budget to
perform this work.
DESCRIPTION: This will be the third "round" ofa maintenance contract for pole
painting since the City acquired the street lights from PG&E. This year's contract proposes to paint poles
in the area generally bounded by 1-680, Village Parkway, and north of Amador Valley up to, but not
including, Davona Drive. The poles in the remaining residential areas of the City are proposed to be
painted next fiscal year There are approximately 130 poles in the area to be painted this fiscal year.
Staff requested proposals from contractors who have bid in the past, as well as publicly advertising the
project, but received only one quotation this year. 51. Francis Electric has performed the pole painting for
the last t\VO years, and the work has been of excellent quality.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve award of a purchase order to 51. Francis Electric for pole
painting.
