A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Personnel System Rules,
the City Council adopted Resolution No. 30-8~ Establishing a
Classification Plan; and
WHEREAS, during the consideration of the 1985-86 budget,
the City Council projected the need for additional personnel to
provide an adequate level of services to the community; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of a job descripvion is required
for all authorized positions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 30-8~
and any amendments adopted in conjunction with Resolution No.
30-$~ shall be further amended to include the following
classification and attached job description (Exhibit A) and shall
become a parr of the official Classification Plan for the City of
Dublin:

EXHIBIT A
FINANCE TECHNICIAN
Definition
Under general supervision, performs accounting clerical work of average
difficulty covering a variety of bookkeeping tasks within the organization,
completes typing assignments, utilizes office machines including computer
and does other related clerical duties as required.
Example of Duties
Responsible for processing cash receipts; audits invoices and prepares
necessary documentation for payment; gathers, tabulates and proofreads
statistical and financial data; files bills, vouchers, documents, and other
papers; prepares and types minor correspondence related to financial
transactions; maintains and updates fixed asset inventory; compiles
statements and reports related to financial matters, under direction will
prepare journal vouchers and post entries to the general ledger, maintains
and updates records related to employee benefits and payroll; provides for
the accounting of deposits, expenditures, and balances in a subsidiary
ledger; and performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High School education or equivalent supplemented with college level courses
in accounting and/or business, and four years experience in an office
performing a variety of accounting/bookkeeping duties. An Associate of Arts
degree in Accounting or a closely related field may be substituted for two
years of experience.
Experience operating a computer and background in a governmental agency is
desirable.
Knowledge and Abilities
The Finance Technician must be able vo perform a variety of accounting
duties including the processing of cash receipts, cash disbursements, bank
reconciliations, journal vouchers; ability to prepare monthly reports of
revenues, expenditures, and budget status; ability to type ~5 words per
minute; ability to operate a calculator and other office equipment; ability
to maintain accurate records in an orderly fashion; ability to make
computations rapidly and accurately; ability to rapidly learn skills
necessary to operate micro-computer system; ability to draft business
related correspondence; and ability to keep detailed records to assemble and
organize data and to prepare reports from the data. The position requires a
knowledge of methods, practices and terminology used in financial and
statistical operations; knowledge of the monthly, quarterly and annual
accounting cycle; knowledge of office practices and procedures; and
knowledge of micro-computers or other machine processed financial systems.
Licenses
Requires a valid California Class III driver's license to be secured prior
to employment and maintained as a condition of employment.
