Thompson, Public Works Director EXHIBITS ATTACHED: Resolution RECOMMENDATION: ~ Adopt Resolution FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The City incurred costs in the amount of approximately $17,000 for cleanup and debris removal and will incur costs of approximately $220,000 in slide repairs. . DESCRIPTION: During the February 2nd stonn, the City incurred cleanup and debris removal costs in the amount of approximately $17,000 through regular maintenance activities. In addition., slides occurred in the City's right of way along San Ramon Road and along Dublin Boulevard west of Silvergate Drive. The estimated repair cost for these two slide areas is approximately $220,000. The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires that the City Council designate an agent to execute applications for assistance so that the City is able to recover all or part of its costs. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution designating the Assistant City Manager! RESOLUTION NO. . 98 A RESOLUTION OF THE CfIT COUNCil- OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN * * * * * * * * * DESIGNATING ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER / ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIRECTOR AS AGENT FOR EXECUTION OF DOCUMENTS PERTAINING TO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE ROBERT T. STAFFORD DISASTER RELIEF AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1988 OR THE NATURAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE ACT WHEREAS, the City of Dublin acted to prevent or mitigate damage to public and private property during storms of the 1997-98 fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the City is applying for reimbursement for the cost of said damage prevention or mitigation under the Natural Disaster Assistance Act; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Paul S. Rankin, Assistant City Manager / Administrative Services Director, is hereby authorized to execute for and in behalf of the City of Dublin, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, this application and to file it in the Office of Emergency Services for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial assistance under P. L. 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988, and/or state financial assistance under the Natural Disaster Assistance Act. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Dublin, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, hereby authorizes its agent to provide to the State Office of Emergency Services for all matters pertaining to such state disaster assistance the assurances and agreements required.
