HomeMy WebLinkAbout8.2 Dublin Bl/Dougherty Rd Intersection ImprCITY CLERK File # E1[6❑� 0❑-[55 AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 20, 2007 SUBJECT: Authorization to Solicit Bids — Contract No. 07-01, Dublin Boulevard/Dougherty Road Intersection Improvements (CIP No. 96852, Dougherty Road Improvements — Houston Place to I-580) Report Prepared by: Melissa Morton, Public Works Director ATTACHMENTS: 1) Location Map 2) Plans and Specifications to be available at the City Council meeting RECOMMENDATION: Authorize Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 07-01, Dublin Boulevard/Dougherty Road Intersection Improvements (CIP No. 96852, Dougherty Road Improvements — Houston Place to I-580) FINANCIAL STATEMENT: FY 2006-2007 improvements budget for this project: Improvements : $4,945,000 The cost of the project is proposed to be funded by developer dedications/contributions and Traffic Impact Fees (TIF). The Downtown TIF program is intended to cover 16% of the total project cost when sufficient funds are collected from this program. DESCRIPTION: This project will widen the Dublin Boulevard and Dougherty Road intersection for the purpose of constructing additional traffic lanes and increasing the intersection's capacity to accommodate substantial development that has occurred and is currently being planned in Dublin. Project limits on Dublin Boulevard will be Dublin Court on the west and Scarlett Drive on the east. Project limits on Dougherty Road will be Houston Place on the north and the I-580 ramps on the south. This intersection is currently the most heavily -traveled for several hours of the day. Once completed, the intersection will become one of the largest in the Tri-Valley area. COPY TO: Page 1 of 2 ------------------------------------------ Q �� ITEM NO. (� '2 - � GAMISCPROADougherty Rd Imp - Houston to I-580Trojec6agenda statement authorization.doc As a precursor to this widening project, the City acquired right-of-way from eleven properties, completed the undergrounding of overhead utilities in this area, and demolished two buildings along Scarlett Court. Plans, specifications and estimates required for construction are now complete. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2007, with the work estimated to take 12 months. It is recommended that the City Council authorize Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 07-01, Dublin Boulevard/Dougherty Road Intersection Improvements (CIP No. 96852, Dougherty Road Improvements - Houston Place to 1-580).
