The CIP budget for FY 2002-03 will reflect the reduced need for funding. There are sufficient monies budgeted in FY 2001-02 to perform the work to be completed this Fiscal Year. DESCRIPTION: On April 16, 2002, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 02-04, Alamo Canal Bike Path from the Iron Horse Trail Junction to I-580. At the same time, a budget change was approved so that the project could be started in Fiscal Year 2001-2002 in order to meet the current funding guidelines for the TFCA grant. Completion of the project is scheduled for the end of July 2002. --------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES TO• B'dd 00 . i ers gAmiscproj\alamo bike IH-I580\agstawrd ITEM NO. f� This project will pave the existing Zone 7 maintenance road along the east side of the Alamo Canal, resulting in a path approximately 12 feet wide with a concrete curb and gutter to control drainage. When complete, the path will complete the Iron Horse Trail system and provide pedestrian and bicycle access to the Civic Center and Library. A total of six (6) bids were received. The low bidder is Top Grade Construction, Inc., with a bid of $243,982.50. Staff has reviewed the bids, called references and determined that Top Grade Construction, Inc., has satisfactorily performed similar projects for other cities. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 02-04 to Top Grade Construction, Inc. Page 2 c~ ~ RESOLUTION NO. - 02 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 02-04 ALAMO CANAL BIKE PATH FROM THE IRON HORSE TRAIL JUNCTION TO 1-580 WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on May 14, 2002, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract No. 02-04, Alamo Canal Bike Path Project from the Iron Horse Trail Junction to 1-580, authorized by the City Council on April 16, 2002, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract No. 02-04 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, Top Grade Construction, Inc., at a bid of Two Hundred Forty-Three Thousand, Nine Hundred Eighty-Two Dollars and Fifty Cents ($243,982.50), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
