BOX 1810 b"'TOCKTON, CAUFORNIA 05201 (209) 468.302S I FAX (209) 468.8455 June 11, 1996 To: From: Kay Keck, City Clerk <"'7'~ __ Bob Stockwell, Interim Program Manager ~ Presentation to Dublin City Council on June 25, 1996 re: The Chairman of the San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission has requested an opportunity to meet with the City Council to present a status report on the proposed Altamont Express Commuter Rail Service, This report prepared and presented by Rail Commission staff will include an overview of the service proposed and the latest capital and operating cost estimates available. The Rail Commission's intent in making this presentation is to better inform each of the cities in Alameda County about the potential for implementation of the new service since it is anticipated that a majority of the total ridership for the Altamont Expr~88 Commuter Rail Service will begin or end their commute rail trlp in Alameda County. The Alameda County CMA Board will hear this same report at thQir meeting of June 27th and the Rail Commission is anticipating that the CMA 'Board will direct staff to begin the formal process of discussion and negotiation with San Joaquin and Santa Clara counties to determine whether a satisfactory operating agreement for the new service can be fashioned.
