; __ 'The Public Works Department has stated that this computer equipment, in addition to controlling the
automated traffic signal system, must be capable of perfom)ing complex engineering calculations, signal
design, and must interface with the existing City computer system. Based upon these needs, staff solicited
bids for a high-speed computer with compatible network accessories and a 21 inch monitor.
Four bidders participated in the bidding process Since several configurations and model numbers
satisfied the bid specifications for the traffic computer, two bidders submitted multiple bids for the
equipment As a result, a total of 6 bids were received for the traffic computer and four bids for the
remaining equipment. All bids were opened on July IS, 1996 at 10:00 a.m., per the time designated in the
Notice to Bidders. The Bid Request was structured to allow the City Council to split the award the bid to
more than one vendor. Therefore, the breakdown of the bid.is based upon the components to be awarded.
