The low bid received for these improvements was $731,472. The total budget for this project is $759,840. The majority of the improvement costs are reimbursed from Public Utility Commission (PUC) Rule 20A PG&E funds, SBC and Comcast for the installation of their respective conduits and utility vaults. The City will receive $694,978 from these utility companies to cover the completed improvements, as well as a portion of the design cost. The remaining costs of this project will be included under Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project No. 96852, Dougherty Road Improvements — Houston Place to I-580. DESCRIPTION: On December 6, 2005, the City Council awarded Contract No. 05-07, Undergrounding of Utilities at the Intersection of Dublin Boulevard/Dougherty Road, to Tennyson Electric, Inc. This contract undergrounded existing overhead utilities along Dougherty Road between -- ------------------------------------- COPY TO: Tennyson Electric, Inc. PG&E SBC Comcast Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. GACINs Dublin Dougherty Underground UtilitiesTROJECT-UNDRGRD 05-07WS acceptance.doc 0 Sierra Lane and Dublin Boulevard, as well as a portion of Dublin Boulevard between Dublin Court and Dougherty Road, and Scarlett Court from Dublin Boulevard to 560 feet south of Dublin Boulevard. This undergrounding project was necessary in order to relocate utility poles in conflict with the widening of the Dublin Boulevard/Dougherty Road intersection in preparation for CIP Project No. 96852, Dougherty Road Improvements - Houston Place to 1-580. It is anticipated that the intersection improvements will begin in Summer 2007. Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements under Contract 05-07, Undergrounding of Utilities at the Intersection of Dublin Boulevard/Dougherty Road, and authorize release of the retention after 35 days ifthere are no subcontractor claims.
