1. Why are you interested in being on the Planning Commission?
To help structure the future of our city through competent planning ideas.
2. What is your knowledge of and experience in planning and Zoning?
Have attended most city council meetings over the last 5 years- was involved
in the Annexation issue for Eastern Dublin-was involved in Parks planning
with Parks and Communty services commision,
3. How do you feel about Dublin's future growth?
Must be well planned and coordinated to support our community. A Community
must continue to grow or it will stagnate.
4. What should the city's position be regarding growth?
The city should support and pursue reasonable growth to ensure continued
prosperty in its sphere of influence.
5. What type(s) of housing do we need?
We need to consider a wide range of housing including some affordable housing.

Water, Sewer,Traffic and the rate at which we grow.

districts?
I support a program to help Businesses improve their aprearance which will
attract more shoppers.
8. What, if anything, should the city council demand of developers
in future developments?
Developers must pay their own way- the finacial burden cannot fall on the
existing residents.
9. How do you feel about making a decision for the overall good of
the community, but unpopular with some neighbors?
Having been involved in business managment for 28 years, I've had to make
decisions that were unpopular to some but were best overall. As long as the issue
is researched and everyones concerns conciderd~ ,the decision will'with -stand the
test of time.
10. What is the most important contribution you can make as a member
of the planning commission?
A business-like approach to planning the future'of our city. My background has been
in long range forecasting and goal setting, I have a sincere desire in seeing
our city develope in a sound and organized manner.

to highest field sales management position. I worked as Assistant Director of
Corporate Sales at Nabisco's World Headquarters dwing the mid-sixtics. The last 20
years, I held the position of Divisional Sales Manager. This position was responsible
for sales, marketing and distribution of Nabisco products and managing about 420
employees through 30 direct reporting support management. Nabisco had seventeen
divisions nationwide. The San Francisco Division covered the six norlhwestcm st'ltes
and Alaska.
The Imprint Works was established after retirement in 1987 in Dublin. It is a
distIibutor of business gifts, advel1ising specialty items, awards, imptinted sp011swear
and represents about 1,300 manufacturers. These products are sold to corporations
and individual companies throughout the Bay Area. TIle Imprint Works is now a
a partnership owned by Brad Johnson and DeeDee Jolmson.
Dublin Chamber of Commerce since 1987 and have selved as an Ambassador,
on the Board of Directors and President. I have selVed on various committees in the
past years. i.e. Transportation, Economic Development, Golf, Business Fair and

1. Why are you interested in being on the Planning commission?
To assist in Dublin's future growth and make it a city where
business and residents ,rant to work and live to improve the city's
image.
2. What is your knowledge of and experience in Planning and Zoning?
In my early education, I studied the building arts and architectural
drawing. I have working knowledge of construction.
3. How do you feel about Dublin's future growth?
Future growth is essential for our city to give quality services
to its residents. Revenue must continue to grow.
4. What should the city's position be regarding growth?
The City should have well planned, controlled commercial, retail
and residential growth.
5. What type(s) of housing do we need?
Dublin needs a full range of housing - low to high income, apartments,
condominiums and individual homes.

regarding future planning?
Most Dublin residents are concerned about the congestion caused by
growth (traffic) and added cost of utilities (water, sewer, etc.).
7. What, if anything, should be done to enhance Dublin's business
districts?
We must make sure current owners maintain the appearance of their
building. The City must keep its streets, sidewalks and Right-of-ways
presentable.
8. What, if anything, should the city council demand of developers
in future developments?
Future development must pay for all improvements. i.e. streets, sewer,
vater utilities etc. None of the growth cost should be passed on to
current residents.
9. How do you feel about making a decision for the overall good of
the community, but unpopular with some neighbors?
I have no problem in making unpopular decisions. In my past business
experience, I have had to make difficult decisions.
10. What is the most important contribution you can make as a member
of the Planning Commission?
An understanding of business, the ability to negotiate, analyze and
apply common sense which will assist in the planning process.

Dear Mayor Houston:
In response to the public request for candidates for appointment to
the Parks and community services commission, I submit my name for
consideration. The City application is enclosed.
We moved into Dublin ten years ago this month. My family consists
of my wife, Cathy, and our three children aged seven, nine, and
ten. We are active in city recreation as well as organized sports.
We are in little league, basket ball, soccer, and after school and
summer recreation programs. My wife and I participate in Dublin's
volleyball and business softball leagues. I feel very strongly
about the value of community based recreation and services
activities. I want to see Dublin's continued support and
development of these programs.
My family, and I, are committed to community involvement. We are
committed to returning to Dublin our service for these fine
programs.
I can be a viable and valued member of the Parks and community
services commission. In addition to my personal interest, I have
some experience working on boards.

I am currently the vice President of the Dublin United Soccer
League. DUSL has over 900 players. Serving on this board has been
an exciting and rewarding experience.
I am Past President of the Northern California Fraud Investigators
Association. During my six years on this board, I have seen our
membership grow from two hundred members to over five hundred.
professionally, I am retired from the San Leandro police
Department. I served sixteen years before being disability
retired. I am employed by the R.J. Frasco Agency, Inc. As Vice
president of Northern California operations, I oversee three
branches and forty employees. I served honorably in the U.S. Navy
from 1965 through 1968.
I will bring a well rounded presence to the Parks and Recreation
Commission. I respectfully request your appointment to the
commission.

1. Why are you interested in serving on the Parks and Community
services Commission?
To give something back to the community in which I've lived for 11 years;
to lend my expertise in athletics and recreation, and to help the city work
toward the creation of new and badly-needed facilities and programs, as well
as the renovation of others.
2. What knowledge do you have of the parks and recreation facilities
in Dublin?

the last 6 years, and with both of my children having gone through swim les-
sons in Dublin, I'm pretty familiar with many of the facilities. Moreover,
having been a sportswriter for the Herald and Oakland Tribune, I've covered
athletic events in Dublin...from Little League to Dublin High varsity sports,

Parks and community Services Department? Have you or a family
member participated in a program sponsored by the Department?
I'm not as well versed on all the prOGrams offered by PCSC as I hope to be
soon, but I, as well as my two children, have participated in numerous
department-sponsored proqrams. Just recently, I concluded playinG in a
co-ed adult softball leaque on SundaY niGhts in Dublin.
4. Are there additional park facilities and' recreation programs
needed by the community? please describe.
Quite clearly, there is a need for another gymnasium-type facility ln
Dublin. As many as 20 community and school Groups are tripping allover
themselves in the Dublin Hiqh and Wells Middle School Gymnasiums. This
is an A List project, in my opinion.
