CITY OF DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 13, 1995 SUBJECT Request from Dublin Sister City Association for waiver of use fees for the Dublin Civic Center (prepared by: Diane Lowart, Parks & COffi1l1.unity Services Director) EXHffiITS ATTACHED Correspondence from Jacquelyn M. Hensley, Chairperson for the "Green & White Gala Affair" RECOMMENDATION /1 ~V Waive Facility Use Fees but require Security Deposit and Certificate of 'I" · '1IV 'If Insurance FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Estimated Lost Fee Revenue: $320 \ DESCRWTION : Correspondence has been received from Jacquelyn M. Hensley of the Dublin Sister City Association requesting that the fees for use of the Dublin Civic Center be waived for their Third Annual Green and White Gala Affair. The Green & White Gala Affair is scheduled for Saturday, March 18, 1995 to coincide with the Citywide S1. Patrick's Day Celebration. The evening will consist of dinner and entertainment and it is anticipated that guests from our sister city, Bray Ireland, will be in attendance. Under the current Facility Use Policy for the Dublin Civic Center, the Dublin Sister City Association would be classified as a Resident Community Group. The fees for use under this classification are as follows: Use during regular business hours Use outside of regular business hours Use for the purpose of fundraising no fee $20 per hour $40 per hour In addition to the fees shown above, a $200 Security Deposit (refundable) is required and groups must provide evidence of liability insurance covering bodily injury and property damage at a minimum limit of $500,000 per occurrence. If the City were to charge the Dublin Sister City Association for use as requested, the revenue generated would total approximately $320 (8 hours at $40 per hour). It should be noted that the City Council granted a similar request from the Dublin Sister City Association for last year's Green and White Gala, however, the event was subsequently held at another location. Therefore, it is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council waive the Facility Use Fees for use of the Dublin Civic Center by the Dublin Sister City Association for the Third Annual Green and White Gala Affair. However, Staff recommends that the Sister City Association be requited to put forth the Security Deposit as well as provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance. . -------------------------------------~-~-----~------------------------ COPIES TO: Dublin Sister City Association lTEMNO. 9-.4- C I T V (t. l ,': K FilE r 12foW-llJol -- ~ -" r""Wlnu;;Iry Q, 1010101 0."01 I"\IYI ',"__r1lOlm. ..........n...... n~I'I"'''~ I .mClA'IT. .
