RESOLUTION NO. 87 - 010
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY.OF DUBLIN

APPROVING PA 87-0l4 HOWARD .JOHNSO~ HOTEL SIGN CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
REQUEST FOR A SECOND FREESTANDING SIGN AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE SITE
AT 6680 REGIONAL STREET
WHEREAS, .Johnson Clark, representing Motor Lodge Associates, filed
an application for a Conditional Use Permit and Variance to locate a second
Freestanding Sign on the Howard .Johnson Hotel site. 6680 Regional Street; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on said
application on March 2, l~7; and
WHEREAS, proper notice of said public hearing was given in all
respects as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the request is categorically exempt in accordance with the
provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act; and
WHEREAS, a Staff Report was submitted recommending the application
be conditionally approved; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission heard and considered all said
reports, recommendations, and testimony hereinabove set forch;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Dublin Planning Commission
does hereby find:
a. The use is required by the public need in that it provides business
identification to the general public for a hotel facility and restaurant
facility in the City of Dublin (Howard Johnson Hotel, Lord Dublin
Restaurant).
b. The use would be properly related to other land uses and transportation
and service facilities in the vicinity.
c. The use, if permitted under all circumstances and conditions of this
particular case, will not materially affect adversely the health or
safety of persons residing or working in the vicinity or be materially
detrimental to the public welfare or injurious to property or improve-
ments in the area, as all applicable regulations will be met.
d. The use will not be contrary to the specific intent clause or performance
standards established for the district in which it is to be located.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Dublin Planning Commission does
waive the requirement for Site Development Review of the existing non-conforming
sign subject to conditions of approval and does hereby aprove Conditional Use
Permit PA 87-0l4 one single-faced Freestanding Sign as shown on Exhibit "A"
PA 87-0l4 on file with the Dublin Planning Department and subject to the
following conditions and Conditions of Approval for the associated Variance
application:
1. The single-faced Freestanding Sign shall be limited to the following
dimensions:
A) Maximum sign area:

C) Front setback:
40 square feet (4 feet x 10 feet)

3. Within 30 days of the effective date of this permit, the Applicant shall

Within 30 days of the effective date of this permit, the Applic.ant shalf .'
remove the signage on the back side of the existing freestanding sign
adjacent to the Regional Street entrance. Use of this portion of the sign
as lighting shall be subject to review and approval of the Planning
Director. '
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of March, 1987.
