FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Station 17- EmeraM Glen Fire Station Current Budget: $3,509,000 Current Estimates: $3,942,057 Difference: ($ 433,057) Station 18 -Fallon Fire Station Current Budget: $2,480,500 Current Estimates: $3,252,060 Difference: ($ 771,560) The Current Estimates are based on the most recent local construction projects of similar type including the Livermore Fire Station bid in December 2001. The budget numbers from the 2001-2002 CIP were based on pre-bid cost estimates available from Alameda County Fire on their stations 10 and 11 and similar buildings bid in the area. The actual bid costs for Alameda County Fire Stations 10 and 11 were available after the City's 2001- 2002 budget was approved increasing costs by approximately 27%. The Alameda County station designs were based on the same prototype that the City's stations 17 and 18 are designed to meet. The cost difference between the two stations includes the necessity for more extensive site improvements at the Fallon Fire Station (Station 18) due to its proximity to residential areas and the furore park. In addition the Emerald Glen Fire Station (Station 17) is the larger of the two and some economy of scale was included in the cost estimate. The difference in the original budget and the current cost estimates is being addressed as part of the 2002-2003 Budget: DESCRIPTION At the February 9, 2002 meeting of the Dublin City Council, the Council reviewed the schematic design by BSA Architects for the two new Fire Stations for the City. The Consultant had prepared building plans for the two stations. Station 17 is the larger of the two buildings at 11,600 square feet. Station 18 has is approximately 8,900 square feet.
