FINANCIAL STATEMENT: 1. Approve Date 2. Provide Input on Preliminary Plans Sufficient Funds are Available in the FY 95.96 Budget DESCRIPTION: Renovations on the Dublin Heritage Center are nearing completion. Members of the Clampers have volunteered to paint the interior of the Murray School the weekend of September 15 - 17, 1995. Soon after, the Dublin Heritage Preservation Association (DHPA) will begin moving their museum artifacts back into the School. Therefore, the Heritage Center should be ready to reopen in mid-October. . . _The Heritage Center Advisory Committee appointed a subcommittee to develop preliminary plans for the ~rand Reopening. The subcommittee submits the following recommendations for review by the City Council. Date Saturday, October 14, 1995 Time 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Program: Mayor' s Welcome and Introductions Activities: Docent led tours Performances by musical groups Horse drawn carriage rides Lariat performances Hands-on demonstration of a working printing press Old-fashioned games (e.g. hopscotch, marbles, jacks) Hands-on crafts for children including cornhusk or clothespin dolls, crayon rubbings from headstones and drawing personal family trees Cardboard milking cow demonstration Refreshments: Hotdogs, soda, popcorn and apples ~----------------------------------------------------------------- "-- - COPIES TO: Heritage Center Advisory Committee ITEM NO..8. It is recommended that the City Council review the preliminary plans for the Heritage Center Grand Reopening and provide input on the date as well as the proposed program. - - . .
