'.2 COPIES TO: CITY CLERK FILE~ ~(p~~ ~' SON G W (S Ci! JC....~ R T E R Dear Council Member: I'm writing you as a songwriter with a special interest; pride. Pride in our country, in our way of life and in our communities. And, I've found the best way to express these feelings of pride is through the powerful medium of music. Since 1985, I have written, produced and recorded three officially recognized city anthems as the enclosed letters will attest. Each of the compositions reflects a positive image of the cities for which they were designed; and in each case these songs have served to bring the community together, to give them a "musical identity". In addition to the community relations aspect, an official city song is a great way to call attention to your hometown via the media. All three songs are regularly played on Bay Area radio, and the newspapers love a bit of good news. There are countless ways to utilize official music, they are as varied and diverse as the cities themselves. I would consider it a privilege and a pleasure if you wo~ld allow me to design a musical composition for your review that could possibly serve as Dublins official city anthem. On the enclosed tape are capsules of all three songs that have been recorded from various radio programs. Please take the time to review this material and consider giving Dublin her own "musical identity". I am available to you at 829-3611 (days) or 606-0412 (evenings) should you have any questions. Most Sincerely ~~ Stephen Stewar~U.{~ ~7 g~d- 6300 SCENIC AVENUE. LIVERMORE, CA 94550 · (415) 606-0412 e 39100 liberty street P. O. Box 5006 Fremont. CA 94537 William "Bill" Ball, Mayor (415) 745 - 2704 December 30, 1991 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this on behalf of Steve King Stewart, as a recommendation of support for any endeavor he chooses to undertake in his field of music. I have known Mr. stewart for seven years. The city of Fremont chose his song "Fremont USA" after a contest sponsored by the San Jose Mercury News. Steve's song far and away was City Council's choice, and it was adopted as the official city song. Since that time, I know he has written official city songs for other cities. Also, I wanted to do something special for homecoming troops from the Gulf War. I contacted Steve, and he simply volunteered to help and with a committee that put together a wonderful event we called "Central Park USA" featuring a wide variety of music and concluded the program by singing "Fremont Cal" accompanied by Fremont Philharmonic Orchestra to a standing ovation. Mr. Stewart is a fine musician, singer, composer, and, more importantly, a fine human being. And he certainly is a good friend. If any further information is needed, please feel free to call me. _-;;riff: BILL BALL Mayor BB:kjm o <( _~_~ I 0 I\r ~ ..-', ^ .. .'~" no '. \. ' " ._' .......- 0'" ~ ;. (\ ~ " " --1 .... ,,'" 0.... He has written and produced the official song of the City of Livermore, "Livermore, CA", which the City Council approved in 1991. Steven and I worked closely during the development of the song, and I found him to be very professional, motivated and reliable. Steven's abilities are demonstrated in "Livermore, CA" in that he has captured the essence of Livermore in the song's lyrics, produced a quality arrangement of the music he wrote, and performed it well. It is a pleasure for me to endorse Steven Stewart as a song writer. His dedication to his work and his presentation of his material are extraordinary. I am glad to have had the opportunity to work with him. Sincerely, ~~ Cathie Brown Mayor (510) 373-5149 ~ I IU~RMOR~ . 55 HAWTHORNE STREET. It was just what I had envisioned and you proved to me that you take this music business very seriously. I appreciated that the song was written in the specific music form I asked for. You had a few seconds of a music intro, a terrific lyric that ended with "Mayor Tom", and an appropriate music trailer that was used as a closing tag. Be sure to give me a call if there is anything I can do for you. r can, at the very least, offer my highest recommendation to anyone that might be considering your music services. and Mike Show e . THE WHITE HOUSE September 3, 1991 Dear Mr. Stewart, Thank you for sending "That Union city of Mine." of your wonderful talent. your thoughtfulness. with all best wishes, your patriotic tape, You should be proud I greatly appreciate Warmly, &~ ~rC Mr. Steve King Stewart 6300 Scenic Avenue Livermore, California 94550 June 12, 1992 To Whom It May Concern: During the past four months, the Livermore Main Street Program has become acquainted with Steve King Stewart, and what a pleasure that association has been! Steve, very aggressively, contacted our office during preparations for the first Honey Festival. He offered his services to prepare a promnotional piece to be used on the radio for the Festival. Budgetary limits required that Steve be rather creative in his final production. He accomplished our goals beautifully and efficiently. He was also instrumental and knowledgeable in making the contacts with the different radio stations around the Bay Area. Lastly, Steve attended the Honey Festival and entertained the crowd with his Livermore Song. He has proven to be most generous and genuinely concerned about the welfare of the downtown community. We look forward to working with Steve at future events, including Nostalgia Day in September of this year. S:jJJr Pat Dugand, Manager 2250 First Street, Livermore, California 94550 (415) 373-1795
