This project is funded by TEA-21 Federal funds ($439,000), State Transportation Congestion
Relief Fund ($294,470), Gas Tax ($577,559), Measure B ($391,260) and General Funds
($39,000). The FY 2001-2002 budget includes funds to perform this contract and Contract No.
02-03, 2001-2002 Annual Street Overlay Project. The remaining budget of $623,456 will be used
to fund the Spring 2001-2002 Annual Street Overlay Project (Contract 02-03) that is currently
under construction.
DESCRIPTION: On August 21, 2001, the City Council awarded the 2000-2001
Annual Overlay Project, Contract No. 01-09, to McGuire & Hester. The project was delayed from the
Spring of FY 2000-2001 until the Fall of FY 2001-2002 due to the securing of additional Federal/State
funds and coordinating the overlay work with the Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) recycled
water pipeline project on Dougherty Road. 4 /

This overlay project removed and replaced failed asphalt concrete pavement to a minimum depth of 4
inches, resurfaced various street with a 1-1/2-inch overlay of asphalt concrete and re-striped pavement
striping and markings. Reinforcing fabric was used prior to the overlay in order to prevent cracks from
reflecting through the new overlay.
The project also included median landscaping improvements on Dougherty Road between Sierra Lane and
Dublin Boulevard. This portion of work was funded by Federal TEA-21 funds.

Staff has reviewed the work and recommends that the City Council accept the improvements under
Contract No. 01-09, 2000-2001 Annual Overlay Project, and authorize the release of retention after 35
days if there are no subcontractor claims.
