Adopt Resolution Approving Destruct~on of Records FINANCIAL STATEMENT: No Cost. DESCRIPTION: Section 19850 of the Health and Safety Code requires the Building Department to maintain copies of plans for certain specified buildings for the life of the building. Section 34090 of the Government Code provides that approval of the city Council and written consent of the city Attorney is required prior to destroying records that are more than 2 years old. The Building Department files contain many records of permits, plans and correspondence regarding buildings or structures that no longer exist. Examples are as follows: 1. Signs for businesses that have relocated or have discontinued business. 2. Plans for buildings or structures that have subsequently been demolished. 3. Plans for buildings or structures for which permits were issued, but were never constructed. 4." Records of permit refunds granted by Alameda County and receipts for miscellaneous fees collected by Alameda County. 5. Alameda County Planning documents which are also contained in the city's planning files. 6. Alameda County notices and other documents relating to abandoned vehicles. It is the opinion of the Building Official these files are no longer necessary. / The Building Department has a volunteer who will be available on a part-time bases to purge the files of the above documents. RESOLUTION NO. - 93 J A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AUTHORIZING DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN BUILDING DEPARTMENT RECORDS WHEREAS, Section 19850 of the Health and Safety Code requires the Building Department to maintain a copy of specified plans for certain specified buildings for the life of the building; and WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the Government Code provides approval of the city Council and written consent from the city Attorney prior to destroying city records that are more than 2 years old; and WHEREAS, the Building Official has requested to destroy the following records; and WHEREAS, the city Attorney has consented in writing to the destruction of said records. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE Dublin City council does authorize the Building Official to destroy the following records which are more than 2 years old: 1. signs for businesses that have relocated or have discontinued business. 2. Plans for buildings or structures that have subsequently been demolished. 3. Plans for buildings or structures for which permits were issued, but were never constructed. 4. Records of permit refunds granted by Alameda county and receipts for miscellaneous fees collected by Alameda County. 5. Alameda county Planning documents which are also contained in the city's planning files. 6. Alameda County notices and other documents relating to abandoned vehicles.
