DESCRIPTION:
In March of 1986, the City Council awarded Contract 86-1 to Robert
Quatman, Inc. The project provided for installation of ground cover, law~, trees,
and paver stones in the medians on Village Parkway between Amador Valley Blvd. and
Kimball Ave., and trees and vines on the east side of the street. The project also
installed traffic interconnect conduit and street lights in the median and was made
up of portions of three projects in the 1985-86 Capital Improvement Program.
During the construction phase, Staff authorized removal of extra
sidewalk, curb and gutter which was hazardous and the placement of additional topsoil
for better growth conditions. Staff also made an unsuccessful attempt to get Alameda
County Flood Control to pay for the removal of the pilasters on their canal and
installation of a vinyl-clad fence. As in all City landscape projects, the
contractor has guaranteed the planted material through the next growing season
following acceptance by the City Council.
The City Engineer has reviewed the work on the project and determined
that it is complete and in accordance with the approved plans, specifications, and
modifications. Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements and
authorize release of the certificate of deposit.
