Soto, Deputy City Clerk ATTACHMENTS: RECOMMENDATION~ FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None ~onfirm the appointment of Mayor Lockhart and ~ouncilmember Sbranti to the Citizens/Organization of the Year Ad Hoc Committee None DESCRIPTION: In February of each year, the City of Dublin recognizes a citizen and young citizen who have made a significant contribution toward enhancing the quality of life for residents of Dublin during the past year. At the same time, the City also recognizes a Dublin-based non-profit organization that has provided services which have substantially benefited residents of Dublin. The Citizens and Organization of the Year winners will be announced at the February 22, 2008, Volunteer Recognition Event. As part of the Citizens/Organization of the Year process, an Ad Hoc Committee comprised of two Councilmembers is needed to perform the following duties: . Arrange for impartial judging nominees and selection of winners. . Notify the City Clerk of the winners. . Coordinate arrangements with the Lion's Club and Parks & Community Services Department regarding the logistics for wInners to participate in the 2008 St. Patrick's Day Parade and Celebration. Last year, Mayor .Lockhart and Vice Mayor Hildenbrand served on the Committee. Mayor Lockhart is recommending the appointment of herself and Councilmember Sbranti to serve on the Ad Hoc Committee from November 2007 - March 2008. Staff recommends that the City Council confirm the appointment of Mayor Lockhart and Councilmember Sbranti to the Citizens/Organization of the Year Ad Hoc Committee to facilitate impartial nominee judging for the timeframe of November 2007 - March 2008. .
