courts at Kolb Park
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Additional cost to project of $17,666
DESCRIPTION:
The Kolb Park project was designed to add a surface color coat to fill
in minor imperfections and provide a new playing surface.
After the project was awarded, the surface was cleaned of debris and
found to have structural damage in the form of cracks from roots from the
trees lining the courts.
It is proposed to repair this problem by adding a pavement reinforcing
fabric and an asphalt overlay, much the same as a street repair. This process
will require the bottom rail of the fence surrounding the courts to be
removed, the fence lifted around the bottom, and the overlay put on. The rail
would then be replaced and the fence fabric cut to fit and reattached. Tree
roots will be cut at the outside of the courts to minimize a recurrence of the
problem.
Both the landscape architect, Singer and Hodges, and City Engineering
Staff concur on the need for this additional work. The additional cost is
$17,666.
