])ESCRlIPTHON Each year, the CIty of DublIn recogmzes cItIzens who have made a
sIgmficant contnbutIon toward enhancmg the qualIty of hfe for resIdents of DublIn dunng the past year
One wIll be chosen as CItIzen of the Year and one wIll be selected as Young CItIzen of the Year Mayor
Lockhart and VIce Mayor SbrantI currently serve as the CItIzens and OrganIzatIOn of the Year CommIttee
ImmedIately after close of the nOmInatIOn penod, the CommIttee arranged for the JudgIng to be done by
ImpartIal IndIVIduals or organIzatIOns outSIde the CIty of Dub 1m
The wmmng CItIzen and Young CItIzen of the Year wIll be announced at the CIty'S "Jazzed About Our
Volunteers'" event beIng held on Fnday, February 22,2008 at the DublIn Semor Center In addItIOn, the
Winners' names Will be engraved on the perpetual plaque, WhICh hangs Just InsIde the CounCIl Chambers
The CItIzen of the Year and Young CItIzen of the Year nommatIOn penod has been extended and nomInee
names nommatIOn forms Will be proVIded to the CIty CounCIl before the February 19 meetmg
The nomInees were mVIted to attend tills CIty CounCIl meetmg and InVItatIons have been extended for
them to attend the Volunteer RecogmtIOn event on February 22nd
Staff recommends that the Mayor present each nomInee WIth a CertIficate of RecogmtIOn for beIng
nom mated as DublIn'S 2007 CItIzen or Young CItIzen of the Year
