U Staff to Prepare a Formal Acknowledgement.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The total value of the gifts is approximately $3,200.00.
DESCRIPTION: City Staff has received two automated external defibrillators (AED) units
that cost approximately $1,600 per unit for a total of $3,200 from the Alameda County Fire Department.
Automated external defibrillators provide life-saving technology in the treatment of cardiac arrest at work.
The two AED units will be place at the City's Corporation Yard facility and at City Hall in the employee
physical fitness room. Each AED unit will be registered with the Alameda County and become part of the
Cities existing AED inventory increasing the inventory from 3 to a total of 5 AED units.
As per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and contributions be formally
accepted by the City Council. Therefore, Staff recommends that the City Council accept the gift from the
Alameda County Fire Department and direct Staff to prepare a formal acknowledgement.
