DESCRIPTION:
Phase I of the Dolan Park improvements has been under construction for
several months and is scheduled to be completed, weather permitting, within
the next six weeks.
The Phase I contract was awarded for $303,832.32. Since that time, five
change orders totaling approximately $21,000 have been written, including
revision from wood to metal light poles, an additional water service because
of pressure problems, and some regrading and drainage facility additions.
Also, charges in the amount of $28,005 were paid to Zone 7 and DSRSD for water
service fees. These fees are approximately $11,000 over the budgeted amount,
as two water meters were required because of the above-mentioned insufficient
water pressure.
On November 23, 1987, the City Council approved the design for Phase II
improvements for Dolan Park and authorized Cardoza, DiLallo, and Harrington to
proceed with the preparation of construction documents.
Phase II improvements include the sports court, group picnic area, day
camp shelter, tot play area, parcourse, and completion of the walkways,
irrigation, lighting, and landscaping.
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize advertisimg of Contract
88-2 for bids.
