Combining these similar projects will reduce Staff administration time and should help to reduce unit costs because of economies of scale. overlay and Repair The annual overlay program consists of placing at least a 1 1/2" asphalt overlay on streets that are in a deteriorated condition. A special pavement fabric will also be placed over the travelway prior to the asphalt overlay. This fabric helps bridge the existing pavement cracks and prevent the reflection of cracks through the new asphalt. Before installing the overlay, the pavement failures are dug out to the base and replaced with a section of asphalt. The contract also includes repair on the streets which will be slurry sealed in late spring. Additionally, this year's program will include replacement of 33 traffic signal loop detectors at the intersections of Amador Plaza Road and Regional Street at Dublin Boulevard. These loop systems have ceased to function properly due to the deteriorated street section. The streets to be overlaid this year are Regional Street (which was repaired last year); Brighton Drive between Wexford Court and Amador Valley Boulevard; and Tamarack Drive between Brighton Drive and Village Parkway. The project also relocates the chain-link fence belonging to Camp Parks eastward to a location behind the bike path. ~ A bikeway along Dougherty Road was established by the County as part of the County bikeway master plan. Dublin has adhered to this master plan in completing such projects as the striped bike lanes on Amador Valley Boulevard. During FY 1986-87, Dublin applied for and obtained a TDA bike/pedestrian grant in the amount of $75,000 for construction of the Dougherty Road bike path. - 2 -
