RECOMMENDATION:
Accept improvements constructed under Contract 89-3
,.and authorize Staff to pay final payment and
retention in the amount of $118,901.13 to Bay Cities
Paving and Grading.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
As noted below, a portion of the expenditures for FY 1988-89 occurred on the
1988 overlay project, Contract 88-4. The project was completed within funds
budgeted.

The costs for this project are budgeted in two locations. The overlay and
engineering/inspection is budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program, and
the street repair and striping is in the Transportation Operating Budget
under Street Maintenance.
DESCRIPTION:
At the March 27, 1989, City Council meeting, Contract 89-3, the Annual
Street Overlay and Repair, was awarded to Bay Cities Paving and Grading.
Repair work was performed primarily in the residential area north of Amador
Valley Boulevard and east of Village Parkway in preparation for the slurry
seal, as well as failed areas of Amador Valley Boulevard, Regional Street,
Tamarack Drive, Sierra Court, and the Village Pathway/Clark Avenue loop
south of D~folin Boulevard. During the cou£se of r~pair, 46 signal loop
detectors were also repaired.
Regional Street between ~nador Valley Blvd. and Dublin Blvd., Tamarack Drive
west of Village Parkway, and Amador Valley Blvd. between Starward and
Village Parkway received a 1-1/2" asphalt overlay.

The financial statement includes expenditures from last year's overlay
project by Les McDonald, Inc., because the project work was not completed
during Fiscal Year 1987-88.
Work on this project has been completed in accordance with the approved
plans and specifications. Staff recommends that the City Council accept the
improvements subject to the contractor's one year guarantee period and
authorize payment of final progress payment and retention in the amount of
$118,901.13 to Bay Cities Paving and Grading, Inc.
