Plans & Specifications will be available at the meeting. Authorize City Engineer to advertise the project for competitive bid. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The construction estimate is $61,700. A recommenda- tion on the financing will be provided once actual bids are received DESCRIPTION : At the City Council meeting of July 10, 1989, the City Council authorized Staff to obtain design services from David L. Gates & Associates. The first phase of this work was the preparation of plans, specifications and a cost estimate. The project involves the construction of a fountain within the Civic Center courtyard. The Dublin Fine Arts Foundation is working to raise funds to install a commissioned piece of artwork at this location. Some of the underground utilities have been installed under the Civic Center construction contract with Dickman-Nourse, Inc. The fountain project includes: excavation of the fountain bowl and equipment vault; installation of mechanical and electrical equipment; placement of stone; and the installation of the artwork support. Staff anticipates receipt of the bids prior to the first City Council meeting of September. Once the contractor is given authorization to proceed, the contract provides a 90 calendar day construction period. This was established based on delivery estimates obtained by the Architect. At the July 10, 1989, City Council meeting, the Council requested that the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation provide an update on their progress. Representatives of the Foundation will be in attendance to answer any questions. The City Council Sub-Committee and Staff will continue to work with the Foundation on financing the project, once the actual bid amounts are known. Staff recommends that the City Council receive the report from the Foundation representatives and authorize the solicitation of competitive bids.
