DESCRIPTION:
This contract is a portion of the Capital Improvement Project to underground
the utilities on Dougherty Road between the Southern Pacific Railroad Right-
of-Way and Amador Valley Boulevard. Since the wood power poles with street
lights will be removed, the City will need to install metal poles along this
section of Dougherty Road in order to maintain the street lighting.
In addition to the Dougherty light poles, this contract includes replacement
of four City-owned poles in various locations which have been knocked down in
traffic accidents.
Rafanelli and Nahas will be installing underground conduit and vaults for the
electrical undergrounding as part of a revised offsite requirement for Tract
5511 at an estimated cost of $179,000.
P.G. & E. will pull wires, remove poles, and install street light heads at an
estimated cost of $130,000. The City will pay P.G. & E. for this work as the
remaining portion of this Capital Improvement Project. The P.G. & E.
drawings, specifications, and cost estimates are just now being completed.
Staff anticipates that construction of the City's street light project to
take place concurrently with Rafanelli and Nahas' and P.G. & E.'s projects,
beginning approximately mid-September and running through the end of the
calendar year. Rafanelli and Nahas will place the two required southbound
lanes as soon as they finish their underground work.
