FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
$209,435 is available in the FY89-90 Budget for
Design, Inspection and Improvements
DESCRIPTION : At the April 28, 1986 meeting of the Dublin City
Council, the Council adopted the Parks Masterplan Report for Alamo Creek,
Dolan, Dougherty Hills, Kolb, Mape and Shannon Park. Since that time,
construction has been completed on Alamo Creek Park Phase I, Dolan Park and
Kolb Park, while the renovation of Shannon Park is underway.
--The City has hired landscape architects Singer & Hodges to prepare the
inal design and construction documents for Alamo Creek Park Phase II which
is scheduled for Fiscal Year 1989-90. Singer & Hodges prepared the
original masterplan for the park and was the landscape architect for the
Phase I improvements. The Phase II improvements include a group picnic
area, restroom/storage building with arbor and separate tot and childrens
play areas. The park masterplan is attached in Exhibit A.
The Park and Recreation Commission reviewed the design for Alamo Creek
Park, Phase I1 at their meeting of September 12, 1989. They approved the
design with the following modifications:
1. Addition of swings to older childrens play area
2. Replacement of spring riders in tot lot with digger
3. Addition of 1-2 barbecues in picnic area
4. Addition of large shade trees in picnic area
toys
The budget for construction of the Phase II improvements is $183,715.
The preliminary cost estimate for the improvements is $193,045 (Exhibit B).
Consequently the consultant has recommended bidding the arbor as an
additive alternate. Staff will work with the contractor during development
of the construction documents to refine the cost estimate and determine
whether it is necessary to bid this item as an alternate.
It is recommended that the City Council take the following action:
1. Receive presentation from Singer & Hodges, Inc.
2. Receive public comment
3. Approve design and direct consultant to proceed
development of construction documents
