Volunteer Day .
Over 90 community volunteers donated significant time and energy to community clean up and
beautification projects on Volunteer Day, Saturday, April 26th. Volunteers met at 8:00 a.m. at Ted
Fairfield Park to receive instructions and supplies for the various projects throughout the community.
Mayor Lockhart began the event with a welcoming address and word of thanks to the volunteers. All
volunteers were given Dublin Pride Week t-shirts and were provided snacks, juice and water including
muffins donated by Mimi's Cafe.
At the completion of the projects, all volunteers were invited to a free barbecue provided by the Dublin
Lion's Club. Volunteer Day consisted ofthe following projects:
Senior Projects: There were over 50 volunteers that made up the 12 separate Senior Project Teams. The
teams were able to assist 27 senior homes with a variety of activities that ranged from cleaning windows
to minor home repair.
Heritage Center: Approximately 10 volunteers from the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation raked, pulled
weeds, and engaged in other beautification activities at the Heritage Center.
Wells Middle School Projects: Volunteers assisted in beautifying the school by completing landscaping
and painting projects. Approximately 30 volunteers participated in these activities.
Storm Drain Medallions: An additional 10 volunteers were engaged in pasting medallions to the City's
storm drains, which warn against dumping material into the storm drain system.
Bus Obscura
The City of Dublin sponsored this program with the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation. The Bus Obscura
traveled around Dublin, offering free 15 minute trips to interested community members. Trips were
provided on Friday, April 25th and were available to all Dublin Pride Week volunteers on Saturday, April
26th, during the Volunteer BBQ Luncheon.
Nature Day
Tassajara Creek Nature Walk: Following the Volunteer Day Activities on April 26th, naturalist and park
ranger Katie Colbert lead a nature walk along the Tassajara Creek Trail exploring the creek's diverse flora
and fauna. Approximately 12 people participated in the walk.

drought tolerant gardening.
Food Drive
This year, Dublin Pride Week included a Food Drive. Food donations were collected at the City's two
Safeways. The City was able to collect approximately 36 cubic feet of food. All food collected was
donated to the Dublin Children's Emergency Council.
Electronic and Household Hazardous Waste Event
Household Hazardous Waste Event: The City sponsored another successful household hazardous waste
drop off event. The household hazardous waste event was managed by Amador Valley Industries and held
at the Micro Dental parking lot. A total 20,200 pounds of household hazardous waste was collected,
ensuring that materials such as paint, used oil, batteries, pesticides and other harmful chemicals were
disposed of properly.
Electronic Waste Event: Dublin Pride Week also included an electronic waste drop off event where
computers, televisions, and other electronic goods were collected for recycling. The electronic waste event
was managed by the Recycle for Breast Cancer Program and was held Saturday, April 28th at Dublin
