DESCRIPTION: In September of 1990, the City Council awarded
Contract 90-08, Phase II of Drainage Inlet Grate Replacement, to P & F
Construction. The project is the second and final phase of a program to
replace existing City grates with grates that are safe for bicycles. In
Phase I, 326 grates were replaced. During the present project, another 170
grates were replaced, for a total of 496 in both phases.
The project is funded in the full amount through a grant from the
Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 for Pedestrian/Bikeway
Improvements. A specified amount ($3,700) has been allotted for the
anticipated TDA audit.
The City Engineer has reviewed the work on the project and determined that
it is complete and in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize
retention payment to P & F Construction in the amount of $3,545.00.
