The park is identified with a prominent park sign on the comer of Antone Way and North Dublin Ranch Drive. Correspondence has been received from Connie Fairfield Ganz requesting permission to install a 9" x 12" brass plaque honoring their father, Ted Fairfield, who the park was named after. Attached to the correspondence is a rough draft of the possible text for the plaque. If approved by the City Council, Staff would recommend adding a section of concrete adjacent to the sign and placing the plaque on the concrete. At present, the City does not have a policy regarding the placement of memorial plaques in City Parks. Consequently, it is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council consider the request of Connie Fairfield Ganz and provide appropriate direction to Staff. Of course, we will pay for the plaque. If you agree to the idea, the next consideration is placement, such as mounted on an outbuilding in public view (but obviously not the restroom). Another option is mounting the plaque to a permanent stake or post, perhaps near the park sign itself, or in a landscaped area off the grass, ere. In other words, we're flexible, but would need to know ahead of time in order to secure the proper hardware and mounting devices. To that end, we would gladly also supply the labor for installation, i!= needed. As to timing, rc would be a wonderful to have the plaque made and installed for a father's day/birthday present (]une or July 2002}. It takes 6-8 weeks to have the Plaque made/delivered. Please le~ me know of your decision as quickly as possible so I can know whether or not to order the plaque.
