HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.10 FireStn17 GoToBid CITY ,CLERK File # 540-70 AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 6, 2002 SUBJECT: Fire Station 17 Authorization to Bid Report prepared by: Herma Lichtenstein, Parks & Facilities Development Manager ATTACHMENTS: Bid Package will be available at the meeting RECOMMENDATION: 01/, ~,,//b%t~Authorize Staff to Bid project FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Station 17- Emerald Glen Fire Station Budget for Improvements $3,942,060 Preliminary Engineers Estimate $3,850,000 DESCRIPTION: At the June 4, 2002 meeting, the City Council approved the Constmction Documents for Fire Stations #17 and #18 prepared by BSA Architects. The architect has provided permit plan sets for review to the City departments, has received comments and incorporated them into the Bid Set. The Zahn Group, Construction Managers has also provided a separate constructability review, these comments have also been incorporated in the Bid Set. At the June 4 Council Meeting, Council further instructed Staff to confirm building color selection with the existing adjacent development and to coordinate Green Building Criteria from Alameda County Waste Management Authority (ACWMA). Staff reviewed the available color selections from the adjacent development and revised the building color to match available samples. The architect has reviewed the ACWMA comments and has confirmed that the items that could be incorporated are outlined in the Bid Set. There were 45 original recommendations of which, approximately 80% have been included. These items will be included in the grant application to ACWMA. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staffthat the City Council take the following action: 1 Authorize Staff to solicit bids for construction of Fire Station #17.
