· Vehicle Storage and Abatement. Currently a number of commercial and residential sites are improperly stodng
vehicles used for living and sleeping accommodations.
New Sign Regulations for Automobile dealerships and businesses. The new sign ordinance passed on January 18,
2000 will go into effect on February 6, 2000. All car dealerships, furniture stores and other businesses primarily
affected by the new ordinances will be notified in writing about the new sign regulations to remind them not to display
prohibited signs. A brief grace pedod will be given to allow businesses to get up to speed.
Signage for apartment building and new homes. New home sites and apartment complexes will be encouraged to file
an approved Master Sign Program to prevent present recurring violations.
Property Management
Over 150 cases were filed from November 1999 through January 31 2000. Many of the violations involved debds and
improperly parked vehicles. Due to citizen cooperation, 83% of the cases were closed. Most of the cases that remain
active relate to obtaining proper permits for existing structures. Citations, although rare, were issued.
· Commercial vehicles in residential disthcts. Due to the increased number of home-based and small businesses,
complaints regarding illegally stored commercial vehicles have also increased.
In General
· Weekend Sweeps. Compliance Sweeps will occur periodically. The sweeps will target outdoor fumiture stores, car
dealerships, and new home construction sites, and commercial vehicles in residential neighborhoods.
· The Code Compliance Database has been updated to replace manual tracking and enforcement. Efficiency and
productivity will increase as a result.
Staff will give a brief presentation and show examples (overheads) of some problem areas.
